When setting up vpn on my network I was in the 192.168 range, but synology insisted on having it's own range, so my network is 192.168.0.x, while my vpn is 192.168.3.x or something similar. In order to get those two to play nice together i had to modify my subnet mask from the standard 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0
